Autumn 2018 Otoño 2018

Another fall season has come. One of my favorites season of the year as I said it before is autumn, and this year I would like to make it very special. 

If it is true that the cold weather is coming with the early nights, very cold morning and grumpy people, but at the same time, it comes with the beautiful view, seasonal food, coffee and clothes, and most important Christmas. 

Right now it is getting dark at 5:00 pm and by the time I get off from work is about 33°F very chili, but even that is enjoyable.

Thanksgiving it is just one week away, and because it is one of the most important holidays I am going to be off from work and getting together with the family. 

My Salvadorian family, in particular, celebrate it with the traditional American food of the day that is turkey, mash potato and gravy, we do it like this because Panes con Pollo and Tamales are for Christmas.  

It is incredible how the time has passed so fast, a couple of blogs ago I was showing the cherry blossom and now the beautiful colors of fall, although there are so many things to be thankful this year, life is one that is more important to me. To be alive and be able to keep going with our purpose. 

  

Otra temporada de Otoño a llegado. Una de mis estaciones favoritas del año, como dije antes, es el otoño, y este año me gustaría hacerla muy especial.

Si es cierto que el clima frío viene con las noches tempranas, las mañanas muy frías y las personas malhumoradas, pero al mismo tiempo, viene con la hermosa vista, la comida, el cafe la ropa de temporada, y la Navidad que es más importante.

Ahorita está oscureciendo a las 5:00 p.m. y cuando salgo del trabajo, está a unos 33 ° F de temperatura, pero incluso eso es agradable.

El día de Acción de Gracias está a solo una semana, y como es una de los dias festivos más importantes estare de asueto del trabajo y me reuniré con la familia.

Mi familia salvadoreña, en particular, lo celebra con la comida tradicional estadounidense del día que es el pavo, el puré de papas y la salsa, lo hacemos así porque Panes con Pollo y Tamales son para Navidad.

Es increíble cómo ha pasado el tiempo tan rápido, hace un par de blogs estaba mostrando los cerezos en flor y ahora los hermosos colores del otoño. A pesar de eso hay muchas cosas que agradecer este año, la vida es una de las más importantes para mi. Estar vivo y poder seguir adelante con nuestro propósito.

Riguas Riguas with beans

The other day, always in my search to eat Salvadorian food, I found this Riguas that come with beans. I have tried frozen Riguas before and in my opinion, they are not bad at all. I would say they are soft and I am able to find the singular taste of the banana leaves that I would say is what makes Riguas very peculiars. This Riguas fill with beans is a lot better. The package that comes with 5 is about $5, and what I do is that I heat them on the same pan that I do the pupusas, low heat, and just like that I can have some Riguas in my plate. I like to eat them with some cheese and coffee, my family love it for breakfast or during the coffee in the afternoon.

El otro día, siempre en mi búsqueda de comer comida salvadoreña, encontré estas Riguas que vienen con frijoles. He probado Riguas congeladas antes y en mi opinión, no están nada mal. Diría que son suaves y que puedo encontrar el sabor singular de las hojas de huerta, que diría es lo que hace a las Riguas muy peculiares. Estas riguas rellenas con frijoles son mucho mejor. El paquete que viene con 5 de ellos cuesta aproximadamente $ 5, y lo que hago es calentarlos en la misma sartén que hago las pupusas, a fuego lento, y así de facil puedo tener Riguas en mi plato. Me gusta comerlos con un poco de queso y café, a mi familia le encanta el desayuno o el café por la tarde.

No quería perder esta oportunidad de compartir mi cumpleaños.

Desde que me mudé a los Estados Unidos no lo he celebrado como solía hacerlo en El Salvador. 

Al principio fue un poco más difícil para mí, pero con el tiempo me acostumbré. Afortunadamente, estoy rodeado de personas que me quieren como mi papá y mi familia y tratan de hacer que mi cumpleaños sea un poco menos melancólico.

Estaba hablando con uno de mis mejores amigas y le dije que no me sentía deprimida ni triste por mi edad (33 por cierto) era solo que los cumpleaños se habían convertido en otro día normal, pero no porque no me gustaran, es solo que las celebraciones ya no son una prioridad. Después de todo, me gusta pensar que a los 33 años es como el comienzo de la verdadera madurez, donde comienzo a enfrentar muchas cosas en las que nunca he estado, pero así es como aprendemos.

Estoy realmente agradecida con Dios por darme la fortuna de estar sana y por darme familiares y amigos que me aman.

I did not want to miss this opportunity to share my Birthday.

Since I move to the USA I have not celebrated it as I used to do it in El Salvador. At the beginning was a bit harder for me, but with the time I just got used to it.  Luckily, I am surrounded by people that love me like my dad and family and they try to make my birthday a bit less melancholy. 

I was talking with one of my best friends and I told her that I was not feeling depressed or sad because of my age (33 by the way) it was just that birthdays has become another regular day, but not because I do not like them, is just that celebrations are not a priority anymore. After all, I like to think that at 33 it is kind of the beginning of the real maturity, where I start dealing with many things that I never been into, but that's how we learn. 

I am really grateful to God for giving me the fortune to be healthy, and for giving me family and friends that love me.

National Aquarium Baltimore Acuario Nacional en Baltimore

Summer is almost ending and honestly, I haven't be able to go out as much as I wanted. I would say that this has been so far one of the most raining summers since I have been living here, we have had Monday through Sunday raining days in which we have not even go to the pool in our building apartments. Because of that and the weekends that I have to work, my Summer plans have been getting a bit short.
Well, last weekend we still had rain on the forecast but we decided that it will be nice to go all the way to Baltimore Maryland that is not far away from Alexandria, probably we drove around an hour and 30 minutes because of the traffic.
I always wanted to go to Baltimore and visit the  Aquarium that is one of the best ones in the whole country, and since it was going to be an indoor trip, my companions did like the idea.
We went in a Saturday and usually in Summertime this type of attractions are always full, we made the mistake of leaving late morning and we did not count that we should get tickets in advance. We got there at 3:00 pm but we were able to get tickets for 5:30 pm. So I would recommend getting the tickets on their website. We paid $39.95 for adult and $24.95 for my kid, and we spend around 2 hours in which we try to see most of the exhibitions.
In my opinion, it worth the $40 dollars, I think that there is no to many opportunities to have this type of experience.

El verano está llegando a su fin y, sinceramente, no he podido salir tanto como quería. Yo diría que este ha sido hasta ahora uno de los veranos más lluviosos desde que he vivido aquí, hemos tenido días de llover de lunes a domingo en los que ni siquiera hemos ido a la piscina en nuestros apartamentos. Debido a eso y los fines de semana que tengo que trabajar, mis planes de verano se han quedado un poco cortos.
Bueno, el fin de semana pasado todavía teníamos lluvia en el pronóstico, pero decidimos que sería bueno ir hasta Baltimore, Maryland, que no está lejos de Alejandría, probablemente condujimos alrededor de una hora y 30 minutos debido al tráfico.
Siempre quise ir a Baltimore y visitar el Aquarium, que es uno de los mejores en todo el país, y como iba a ser un viaje de interior, a mis compañeros les gustó la idea.
Fuimos un sábado y generalmente en verano este tipo de atracciones siempre están llenas, cometimos el error de irnos a última hora de la mañana y no contábamos que debíamos obtener las entradas con anticipación. Llegamos a las 3:00 p.m. pero pudimos conseguir boletos para las 5:30 p.m. Así que recomendaría recibir los boletos en su sitio web. Pagamos $ 39.95 por adulto y $ 24.95 por mi hijo, y pasamos alrededor de 2 horas en las que tratamos de ver la mayoría de las exposiciones.
En mi opinión, vale la pena los $ 40 dólares, creo que no hay muchas oportunidades para tener este tipo de experiencia.
